The certificate presentation ceremony was honored by Dr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, who presided over the event. The ceremony aimed to commend and express gratitude to organizations playing a significant role in reducing greenhouse gases and striving toward the Net Zero goal.

The Carbon Label is a mark that represents efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of a product or organization. It involves evaluating the carbon footprint throughout the product’s life cycle, from production and usage to disposal. Products bearing this label demonstrate environmental responsibility and support Thailand’s future goal of achieving Net Zero.

The evaluation of a product’s carbon footprint encompasses the entire process, from sourcing raw materials, production, transportation, and usage, to disposal. The amount of greenhouse gases emitted at each stage is calculated. Products that meet the evaluation criteria are awarded the Carbon Label, which enhances credibility and assures consumers that the product has a lower environmental impact compared to other products in the same market.

Additionally, the Carbon Label serves as a crucial tool for promoting sustainability in the business sector. It encourages organizations to improve production processes and management to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as to utilize resources efficiently. Having this label also enhances competitiveness in both domestic and international markets, especially in markets that strongly prioritize sustainability and minimizing environmental impact.

ILC Release Sea Turtles at Koh Man Nai, Rayong

On November 23, 2024, International Laboratories Co., Ltd. conducted the “Beauty Sea By Our Hand, Give new life to sea turtle, and Create a Colorful Sea” project at Koh Man Nai, Kram Subdistrict, Klaeng District, Rayong Province.

Sea turtles are ancient creatures that have existed for millions of years and inhabit oceans worldwide. In Thailand, there are five species of sea turtles: the hawksbill turtle, the green turtle, the loggerhead turtle, the leatherback turtle, and the olive ridley turtle. Sea turtles play a crucial role in marine ecosystems by promoting biodiversity as their backs host various fungi and algae. Additionally, their long-distance migrations help transport these organisms to new ecosystems, enhancing marine diversity.

Sea turtle’s feeding behaviors also help maintain ecological balance. For instance, leatherback turtles primarily consume jellyfish, which helps fish populations recover, as jellyfish prey on fish eggs. Without predators like leatherback turtles, jellyfish populations could grow unchecked, impacting fish populations. Similarly, hawksbill turtles feed on sea sponges, preventing them from overgrowing and displacing coral reefs, thus preserving marine habitats.

Despite their ecological importance, sea turtles are threatened by human activities. Their populations have drastically declined due to coastal development, poaching of eggs, and marine pollution. Many sea turtles die or become disabled due to ingesting plastic waste, which prevents them from returning to the wild

Recognizing the importance of sea turtles, International Laboratories Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Eastern Gulf Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center, organized the release of 60 sea turtles back into their natural habitat to restore ecological balance.

The company also donated 12 fiber tanks and a roof to the Rare Marine Animal Rescue Center, Pak Nam Prasae, to support sea turtle conservation, ensuring that sea turtles and the Thai seas remain vibrant for future generations.
